Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Lisa Murray grew up in the suburbs of Vancouver. Lisa left Canada to study Liberal Arts at Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia before relocating to California, USA., where she founded her design and custom artwork business. Lisa is currently living in Vancouver, BC.
Lisa is a self-taught artist who struggles with crippling anxiety about showing her work in public. She is a cerebral artist who contemplates the story she wants to communicate and opens herself up to experimental creative methods to bring that story to life.
Her artwork lies in the historical context of narrative portrait painting. She utilizes nontraditional compositional reference points, color choice, symbolism, and paint application to suggest a storyline. A modern insight into the inner world of her subject matter.
