Title: Opening Day
Artist’s Statement:
I found a grainy image from the 1960’s, capturing a group of bored yet expectant people, waiting for a parade to begin. This triggered an old grainy image of myself as a young girl, around 5 years of age, fidgety yet excitedly waiting for a Canada day parade to start.
I reframed the original photograph thru extensive cropping to focus on these three people to create my favorite triangular composition.
It is great fun for me to capture the mood of the day in the fractured geometric sunny sky. Finally, the green yarn ribbons are a nod to one of my favorite items from childhood.
